GFDD to host Panel Discussion on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development” in Washington, D.C.

The Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), through its initiative Dominican Film Showcase (DFS), will host a discussion panel on “The Film Industry in the Dominican Republic as an Engine of Socio-Economic Development”. The panel will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. at the GFDD Washington, DC Office: 1629 K Street NW, Suite 1100, Washington, DC. A light lunch will be served.

The contributions of the Law for the Promotion of Film Activity (No. 108-10) and the development of the film industry in the country in the recent years will be discussed. This conversation will feature perspectives and experiences of some authorities in the field and renowned Dominican filmmakers.

The panel is coordinated in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE, by its Spanish Acronym), the Mission of the Dominican Republic to the OAS and the Embassy of the Dominican Republic to the United States of America.

The Dominican Film Showcase is taking place at the Arts Museum of the Americas (AMA), November 19-23, 2014, screening several Dominican films.
