GFDD’s Dominican Film Showcase brings laughter in its Embassy Edition

GFDD’s Dominican Film Showcase will be screening a wonderful selection of Dominican films in collaboration with the Dominican Republic Embassy in the United States. The quarterly program of the Dominican Film Showcase Embassy Edition, started with the first screening on March 1, 2016 in Washington, DC, with the film ‘No hay más remedio’ screened to a wonderful audience that attended the invitation and enjoyed the movie.  The welcoming remarks were presented by Ligia Reid, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Washington, and María Victoria Abreu, GFDD’s International Affairs and Socio-Economic Development Program Manager. They also explained the details of this initiative that is the product of a close collaboration between the two entities and thanked Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE for its acronym in Spanish) for their support.

About the film No Hay Más Remedio
Directed by José Pintor, the movie tells the story of Angel, Fonso, and Roberto, three elderly with problems that are too hard to solve in their remaining time to live, take a wrong decision: to commit a robbery at a pharmacy to get enough money to make their dreams come true. Age, technology, employees and customers of the pharmacy… together with a very particular society make their plan not go as foreseen. This is the story of three men who are forced to reach the limit of their possibilities.
